Last night, Foo Fighters officially kicked off the European leg of their 2026 Take Cover Tour with a concert at Unity Arena in Oslo, Norway. Frontman Dave Grohl and his bandmates fit several 2026 debuts into their nearly three hour show, including the first “Marigold” since 2010 and an instrument swap between Grohl and drummer Ilan Rubin.
Foo Fighters launched the show with “All My Life” and then looked to their recently released My Favorite Toy album for “Of All People.” The group proceeded to roll through eight classic songs, including “The Pretender,” “Walk,” “My Hero” and “Learn To Fly,” to form the rest of the first electric portion of the show. “The Pretender” featured a jam on Pink Fairies’ “Do It” within.
The band continued on with a four-song acoustic interlude. Up first was the return of “Wheels,” an underrated track recorded by Foo Fighters for their 2009 Greatest Hits compilation. “Wheels” had previously been missing in action since three plays during a March 2022 run through Latin America.
Dave Grohl then addressed the crowd as he went storyteller style to introduce “Marigold”:
“This song is fucking 36 years old. I wrote this song on the couch in 1990 when I had just joined Nirvana and I was sharing a house with Kurt [Cobain]. I had to be really quiet while he slept. So I wrote this song on the couch. We haven’t played this mother fucker in a long time. It’s called ‘Marigold’ and it sounds like this.”
Grohl initially released “Marigold” in 1992 on Pocketwatch, an album he put out under the pseudonym Late! in 1992. Nirvana recorded the song during the In Utero sessions and released their version of “Marigold” as the B-side to the “Heart Shaped Box” single. When Foo Fighters issued a live recording on 2006’s Skin & Bones, “Marigold” became the first song — and only to date — released by both of Grohl’s primary bands.
In Oslo, Dave Grohl went acoustic for “Marigold” while guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear rocked electric guitars. “Marigold” hadn’t been performed at a Foo Fighters show in nearly 16 years. Grohl last played the song with Nirvana bandmates Smear and bassist Krist Novoselic at a secret fan show for Foo Fighters fans in Los Angeles on December 21, 2010.

Grohl delivered a solo “Big Me” and led the full band through “Times Like These” to end the unplugged portion of the concert. Foo Fighters then returned to the electric format. The frontman used “Invincible” to introduce his bandmates and traded instruments with Rubin after spotlighting the band’s new drummer. Grohl hopped behind the kit while Rubin shredded guitar and sang “Tap Dancing In A Minefield” from his time in The New Regime.
Foo Fighters mixed beloved favorites, cuts from My Favorite Toy and staples for the remainder of their 25-song main set. The band dusted off There Is Nothing Left To Lose track “Breakout” towards the end of the frame after nearly a year on the shelf.
Grohl & Co had one more surprise when they came back for the encore by performing “The Teacher” with Ilan Rubin for the first time. Foo Fighters then played “Exhausted” before serving up the traditional “Everlong” finale.
The tour resumes on Friday, June 12 in Sweden. Additional European gigs follow until July 10. Foo Fighters then return to North America for a series of stadium shows.
