U2 will return to stadiums for the first time since 2019 when its The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour begins in February 2027. Beck will support the six announced concerts in Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires, with European and North American dates to follow.

The tour accompanies Carnaval De Luz, U2’s 16th studio album and first collection of new material in nine years, due November 13. Alongside today’s announcement, the band released the album’s third single, “The Greatest Show On Earth,” and an Anton Corbijn-directed music video.

Billed as Carnaval De Luz Presents: The Greatest Show On Earth, the tour opens at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros on February 23 and 26. U2 then heads to São Paulo’s Estádio MorumBIS on March 10 and 12 before playing Buenos Aires’ Estadio River Plate on March 23 and 25. These will be the band’s only Latin American stops next year.

European and North American dates will be announced in the coming weeks. An Irish homecoming is also being planned. The shows will feature material from across U2’s catalog.

“‘The Greatest Show on Earth’? Now that’s a throwdown. It’s a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody’s life,” Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. said in a joint statement. “A bit of showman, a bit of shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums, and tunes you can hold onto. Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are.”

U2 last played a stadium on December 15, 2019, when The Joshua Tree Tour ended in Mumbai. The band subsequently performed 40 concerts at Sphere in Las Vegas in 2023 and 2024. More recently, U2 celebrated its 50th anniversary on September 25 with surprise performances at Mount Temple Comprehensive School and on Grafton Street in Dublin.

“The Greatest Show On Earth” follows “Street Of Dreams” and “Silencio” as previews of Carnaval De Luz. Co-written by U2 and Brian Eno, the song centers on a couple trying to sustain their relationship and faith. Corbijn filmed the accompanying video in the California desert, portraying the band as a religious cult whose women shoulder the work.
